If you're in the process of overhauling your closet, and you've recently learned that some of the things you've been wearing aren't best for you, you may be a bit concerned about financing a whole new wardrobe.
If that's you, don't worry. I have some tricks to help you extend your current wardrobe until you can afford to replace the things that don't work so well for you.
Change the color and shape of an outfit
There are lots of directions you could go with this. Any kind of outer layer (blazer, cardigan, jacket, poncho, etc.) that you can wear with a lot of the outfits already in your closet will work. If you've already got something in your closet that fits this bill, great.
If not, a jean jacket might be a good first piece because you can use it to dress up a super casual outfit like sweats or dress down your office wear to go run errands.
The key here is to make sure it's in a great color and length for you.
No matter which style of outer layer you choose, you'll be bringing one of your best colors near your face and also covering up part of the top that's maybe not so flattering on you.
When it comes to length, make sure the bottom hem doesn't hit at the widest part of you. If that's your booty/hip area, you'll want a shorter jacket. If that's your belly, you could go with a cropped jacket or a longer one that hits at the hips.
If you happen to be wider on top than bottom, your biggest focus will be choosing a style that doesn't add bulk to your bust. You'll want to avoid breast pockets and large lapels. You might even opt for something like a denim blazer instead.
Change the color and shape of an outfit
Much like an outer layer, a scarf can both change the shape of an overall outfit and bring one of your best colors nearer to your face.
If you don't already have one and are purchasing a new scarf to help you through this transition process, I'd recommend a solid color in one of your best colors that also shows up a lot in your current wardrobe.
The thing to keep in mind when it comes to shape is balance. If you're bigger on top, you'll want to get something lightweight. On the other hand, if you're bigger in the hip area, you'll look for a scarf with more volume.
Then, once you choose a scarf, or use one you already have, you'll want to tie it in the way that best balances out your body type. You'll tie it in a way that creates a long, narrow line if you're bigger on top, but in a way that creates a short, wide line if you're bigger on bottom.
Change the color and shape of an outfit
The same rules that apply to scarves also govern what you'll want to choose for necklaces.
Your best colors are going to be super important, especially if you're going for a chunky necklace that brings the color close to your face.
For shape, choose a long, narrow necklace if you're busty, and a shorter, chunky necklace if you're hippy.
I won't tell you that you can only have a certain number of pieces or they need to be all neutrals to mix and match. No, I do capsules very differently.
I also won't tell you exactly which pieces to buy; you'll determine that based on your lifestyle, personal style, and budget.
In this two-week Intensive, I WILL teach you how to determine how many pieces, and what kinds, YOU want to have in your capsules, help you create a shopping list, and decide which pieces to shop for first.
